Twin Tiers Poultry Club 29th Annual Show

 by Keith Orfanides

A great poultry show puts all the elements together to make a great day.  The Twin Tier Poultry Club has been working hard to put everything together to make a great day for our exhibitors.  Here’s our elements for a successful day.

The Basics – Our show date is Sunday, September 11, 2011.  Once again we are at the Steuben County Fairgrounds in Bath New York.  We continue to keep our entry fee low at $2 per single coop.  Many of our exhibitors take advantage of the low entry fee and enter extra birds as they work on sorting out their young stock and preparing for the rest of the fall show season.   You can expect large, high quality classes.

The show hall will be ready for early coop in on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10.  We encourage you to take advantage of the early coop in and spend some time visiting our local area.  We are in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region.  Go to http://www.fingerlakes.org to make your plans to see the sites of our area.  Lodging in Bath can be found at the Days Inn – (1-800-329-7466), the Super 8 (1-800-800-8000) or Microtel (1-800-771-7171).

Long Prize List – We will once again have $2000 in total cash prizes available.  Included in this is our popular gas money drawing where 15 of our exhibitors will win $20 to put toward their gas expense.  Our good friend Wayne Buisch has once again offered his special prize of $100 to the best large fowl Old English Game hen.  So get your top OEG large fowl hens entered for your chance to win this special prize.

Great Judges – We have three excellent judges ready to make the tough decisions and keep the day running smoothly.  They are Gerald Donnelly, Mark Camilleri, and Bill Ziehm.  With these three, your birds couldn’t be in better hands.

Strong Competition – We are pleased to attract the top breeders from all over the Northeast.  Our show attracts exhibitors from New England to Maryland.  The last two years we have had over 1000 birds in competition.  Last year’s show had an especially strong waterfowl showing with 324 birds.

Large Sales Area – every year we have a packed sales area.  Our show is generally the first show of the Fall season and exhibitors are eager to begin selling their excess stock.  Buyers can expect to find top quality stock.  Sellers can expect to make top dollar.

Fun for All – Anyone who knows our club president Bob Whitney, knows he wouldn’t bother having a show if we weren’t gong to have some fun.  And what could be more fun than visiting all your friends at a top notch poultry show.  So join us on September 11 for a day of great birds, great friends and great fun.

Visit http://www.steubencountyfair.org/poultry.htm for additional information.  You can also contact Bob Whitney at 607-776-2500 or e-mail rodewhit@localnet.com for additional show information.
